Allan Villavicencio

Born in Querétaro in 1987, Allan Villavicencio is a visual artist whose work lies at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and installation. His practice is characterized by the creation of “residual landscapes,” fragmented spaces that explore sensory perception and the virtuality of everyday environments. Villavicencio was awarded an Honorable Mention at the XVIII Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial (2018) and has received the FONCA Young Creators Grant on three occasions. He has completed residencies at Casa Wabi (Costa Chica, Mexico), Cité des Arts (Paris, France), and Casa Nano (Tokyo, Japan). His work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Museo Experimental El Eco, the Museo Tamayo, and the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City. In 2021, he presented the exhibition “Pieles ciegas” (Blind Skins) at the Karen Huber Gallery, where he explored the relationship between painting and architectural space, creating an immersive experience that invites reflection on perception and materiality. His work continues to challenge the boundaries between the tangible and the intangible, proposing new ways of interacting with the visual environment.
